At NelFarms, our vision to become a leading producer of high-quality table eggs led us to pioneer the introduction of packed eggs in Sri Lanka. Today, we are proud to be the market leader, renowned for the quality and freshness of our eggs, which are among the fastest-moving consumer goods in several top-tier supermarkets.

Our commercial farms exclusively use chicks from our own breeder farm, ensuring complete traceability and accountability through our fully integrated system from breeder flock to packed eggs. This comprehensive quality control guarantees the highest standards of product excellence.

To house our birds, we utilize advanced battery cage systems, which ensure clean, safe, and healthy eggs. Here are some additional key points that set our products apart:

Daily Deliveries for Freshness: We deliver eggs daily to ensure maximum freshness for our customers.

Short Expiry Period: Our eggs have a 14-day expiry date, further ensuring their freshness.

Environmentally Friendly Packaging: We produce our own biodegradable packaging from waste paper, promoting environmental sustainability.

Day old chicks

Our breeder farm is located at the heart of a 600-acre coconut estate, which ensures excellent biosecurity. Our hatchery has earned a reputation for producing the best quality Day-old chicks available on the island. The parent birds are imported from France, the Netherlands, and the UK.

Our team consists of qualified veterinary surgeons, nutritionists, and a very competent, experienced, and committed workforce to ensure consistent quality and disease-free Day-old Chicks.

NelFarms produces both commercial broiler and commercial layer day-old chicks. Our current broiler breeder batch size is 15,000, and we produce approximately 600,000 broiler Day-old chicks per month. We have already commenced a 3-year expansion plan to increase our batch size to 31,000 birds, which will produce 1.8 million day-old broiler chicks per month by 2023.

NelFarms is a leading producer of commercial layers and continues to invest in modern, industry-leading facilities to maximize the level of disease protection and optimize the poultry house environment for the well-being and care of all flocks.

The facilities are designed to comply with all the vital industry standards. All our breeder houses are environmentally controlled and tunnel ventilated with a high level of automation.

Our current layer breeder batch size is 6,000 birds, and we ensure that regular inputs are in place irrespective of market conditions. Current production capacity is 54,000 per month. By February 2024, our production will increase to 100,000 per month, and by May 2024, we will increase capacity to 160,000 day-old pullets per month.
