Noorani Estates Pvt Limited, established in 1942, was originally founded with the aim to manage tea, rubber, and
coconut estates. One of the largest estates owned by the company at the time was a 600-acre coconut plantation in
Walahapitiya, Nattandiya, which also housed a sizable cattle herd.
In 1974, following the implementation of the Land Reform policy in Sri Lanka, the company shifted its focus to poultry
production, dairy farming, and dairy food processing. Subsequently, in 1975, Seven Hills Limited was established as a
subsidiary of Noorani Estates Limited.
With the success of its poultry operations in Nattandiya, and in response to increasing demand, the company acquired a
50-acre plot of land in Mangala Eliya, located in the Puttalam District, to expand its commercial layer operation.
Since then the company had rapidly expanded to many other sites further expanding the Breeder and layer business
where state-of-the-art commercial layer farms have been constructed using the most modern technologies. Today we
have more than 7 farming locations across the country
Today, Noorani Estates Limited, or NelFarms, is one of the largest poultry farming operations in Sri Lanka, catering to
the protein requirements of the nation by providing clean, safe, and high-quality table eggs island-wide.
